IEEE Distinguished Lecturers Program
Prof. Takao Suzuki (Information Storage Material Laboratory)

IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) is the organization that consists of 39 societies and has about more than 360,000 members. Among the societies, Magnetics Society is the largest one in the world with long history in this field consisting about 3,000 members. The headquarters is located in Washington DC in the USA.

IEEE Magnetics Society publishes journals and magazines, holds not only International Conference on Magnetics, MMM (Magnetism and Magnetic Materials Conference) but related international conferences, and, in addition, makes wide social contribution through science and technology.

One of its various activities, there is Distinguished Lecturers Program. This program is to select distinctive scientist or engineer (three people a year, four people from 2007) through rigid assessment and hold the lectures about Magnetism, Magnetic Materials and Application in many places in the world. These lectures are delivered mainly at the Chapter in many places in the world and also at the areas with no Chapter positively so far.

The Distinguished Lecturers in the past four years are as attached. There was no one selected from Asian countries but Dr. Takao Suzuki (Toyota Technological Institute, Nagoya, Japan) was selected from Asia for the first time in this Society as Distinguished Lecturer 2007.
