Research Outline

Concentrated photovoltaic (CPV) technology uses optics such as lenses to concentrate a large amount of sunlight onto a small area of solar cells to generate electricity. Large-scale CPV power plants are expected to deliver the high energy production and low electricity cost. The Project, through a collaborative research between seven European and nine Japanese research centers, will develop ultra-high efficiency CPV systems with over 45% efficiency multi-junction solar cells.
