Three very simple English words that have made Japanese technology, engineering and products desirable worldwide are “Made in Japan.” One Japanese word that symbolizes excellence second-to-none is Toyota. The physical world consists of two parts: nature and man-made. All the products made by humans that not only improve our quality of life, but save lives, were designed by engineers. Engineers are the unseen, and often under-appreciated force behind technology and products.

Receiving the 2010 Teaching Excellence Award from President Sakaki, personally, was both an honour and a pleasure. Following the presentation, we discussed the current English programme at TTI and further developments which will be made to it in future. These sounded very exciting and I was very pleased that he had invited me to join him for the discussion and that we could exchange our opinions in such a friendly manner. I look forward to contributing to and participating in the new curriculum very much.
The plaque itself is an impressively designed object and represents the high regard that both TTI and the students have for me. This makes me feel even more "at home" at TTI and gives me great pleasure. It also confirms that my course planning is appreciated by the students, particularly, who wrote such positive comments in their assessments of my teaching approach and lessons' contents. I will display it and treasure it with both pride and gratitude.

| |||||||||||||||||
